Where I stayed
Hotel Ma Chong - Stafford Heights
We were just excited to be heading home that the wait at 3 airports for this leg was worth the wait.
Heathrow about 2 hours before our flight a good friend from church in Hobart, Jack Parsons after realising it was us came up to say "hello". We were on the same flight to Singapore! How was that? Jack had been in England spending time with family. It was really nice to see a familiar face and catch up with news from Tassie.
Our flight to Singapore was 13 hours, we got on at about 10pm London time and did not sleep that night only to arrive in Singapore in the late afternoon
Too many choices on the in flight entertainment menu and too many shows and movies to catch up on. I think I caught up on my Downton Abbey, watching the episodes we had missed out on and then watching the whole last season of Doc Martin. Surely I would sleep on the way to Brisbane! The food and snack supplies were good and even though it was economy it was comfortable.
We got into Singapore about 5.30pm Singapore time. We walked out our cramped and bent legs and had a quick look around the terminal. We were due to fly out at 10 pm. We found the cafe/restaurant balcony area and went out for some fresh air, only to be greeted by a thick, moist and heavy air, granted it was fresh. We caught up again with Jack and then said our goodbyes as he headed off to catch his Melbourne flight. We didn't manage to get onto the free foot massage chairs but got onto the free wi-fi to catch up on Facebook and emails.
We finally boarded our flight to Brisbane, we were nearing home!!! Food service came out, we are always hungry but as you would expect 8 hours was shorter than 13. We had a spare seat to the left of me so just a little bit more room to stretch out. Still sleep alluded me and the family slept on and off.
We touched down in Brisbane at about 6.30am and it felt good to be in Australia and see the sun and feel it's Queensland warmth. Passport control lines were reasonable and moving. Customs they just asked us questions and then we were let through, we have been fortunate enough through the trip to have been able to breeze through passport and customs control, we must not look dodgy enough.
It is good to be back home in Australia, jiggety, jig!
