I am currently back in Salt Lake City attending Zach's funeral. The others continued onto Montevideo without me, I will fly down on Sunday. Yesterday I receive this email from Andrew:

We have had an eventful day.

We only just arrived here at midday. It is now 8pm.
When we got here I decided to rest because I was jet-lagged.
Hannah and the boys wanted to look around, but in the end Hannah stayed at the hostel and the boys went out.
I got a phone call an hour later from Campbell, they had been mugged.
He was quick to tell me that they were okay. The police brought them back to the hostel.
Samuel has a black eye and Campbell's has a big lump on his head.

Apparently a group of six youths (teens and twenties) decided they looked like tourists and jumped Campbell so Samuel jumped in to help him and got punched in the head a few times, blood nose and black eye. Campbell would not let go of his wallet so the guys were hitting him and punching him but in the end they ran off with the MacPac sling. Sucked in, I reckon, it had all Campbells school stuff in it.

He lost his new camera and they ripped his shorts to get his black samsung camera.

Fortunately, he had just taken out his passport and stuff and left it with us at the hostel.

They came home a bit dazed I think. They are sleeping now.

It could have been so much worse, but I am so glad that they are safe. Campbell lost his cameras, we think our portable hard drive (which had alot of our photos) and his school work which was also in the backpack (sorry girls
at work, it was the one you gave me as a gift!!!) but like I said they are safe and recovering from their black eyes and bruises and now we can joke around about it and hopefully make an insurance claim.

As for things here in Salt Lake City, my cousin Angie and her husband Scott and their children are bearing up. Their family, friends, and church community have rallied around
them.  There has been an outpouring of love from all sides and especially for Zachary.

As for the boys Andrew added

Please don't be worried, they are okay.
In the end it might be a good thing if if causes them to think more about personal safety and the safety of those they are with.

I am so glad the boys are ok if not a little battle weary- Obviously a frightening situation- which they got themselves out of- well done boys- xx
