April 11 - by Katelyn

Today I went to Big Cypress National Preserve. After when I went to big Cypress National Preserve I was really surprised, because it was not at all what I thought Texas would be like.  I thought that Texas would have a lot of cowboys and sand, but not here.  Big Cypress National Preserve is like a dense forest with lots of lush plants and vegetation.  Who would think of Texas as that!  At big Cypress National Preserve we got our JR Ranger books.  Then we went on a hike called the Pitcher Plant trail.  On the Pitcher Plant trail I saw a lot of pitcher pants.   Pitcher plants are just like snap dragons.  One really cool thing is that the pitcher plants are carnivores!  After we went on the pitcher plant trail we went on the sundew trail.  On the sundew trail we saw a ton of little lizards. When I was on the sundew trail I felt really small because the trees were really tall.  After that we got our JR Ranger badges.  Then we drove for 5 hours to San Antonio.  Next we went to bed.  I had a good day.
