April 12 - by Emma

Today we woke up, and went to the San Antonio Missions. The missions were built in the early 1700's. The Texas people were living there lives in Texas, and the Indians kept on coming and killing there people. One day the Spanish came, and brought a disease. Then the Spanish asked the people if they wanted to join the missions. Were they would learn the Spanish religions, and many other things. The Texans were happy to do this because it was much better than what they currently faced.  We went in to 2 of the missions. They were doing lots of construction on the building.  We saw a man who was fixing chubby angels legs that hung above the door of the church.  He was very nice and let me keep a peace of his stone.  Then we went to the visitor’s center, and got our Junior Ranger badge.  Finally, we went back to the RV and ate lunch. Then we drove to another mission. There they were setting up for a big dinner. We went in the building and saw remains of paintings. Then we went back in the RV to drive to the campsite. There I went to the pool. The pool was really nice. Then I took a shower ate dinner, and then went to bed.

Today we went to downtown San Antonio.  We were going to watch a movie about the Alamo, go to the Alamo, go to the market and then go on a river boat trip.  When we got to the city, we went to the IMAX Theater to see a movie about the Alamo.  We had to go through the mall to go see it.  When we got there we got the tickets and then 2 bags of free popcorn.  I was happy that we got the popcorn because we never get popcorn when we go to the movies. I really liked the movie because it showed a lot of history about the Alamo and the people that fought in it.  My favorite person who fought in the Alamo was William Travis.  I liked him because he was the leader of the Texans who were fighting to keep the Alamo.  The battle took place in March 1836 and the battle took place for 13 days.  The Texans were fighting the Mexicans since the Mexicans wanted to take the Alamo over.  When the movie was over we went to see the actual Alamo.  I didn’t like that the Alamo looked a lot different from the actual Alamo, meaning that they rebuilt the Alamo and made it look nicer.  I thought that the Alamo was very interesting because it didn’t look like a place that someone would be so protective over and fight so that they could keep it.   When we were done at the Alamo we went to the Market Place.  When we got there we went to go a restaurant since it was lunch time and we didn’t bring lunch.  When we were done lunch Emma really wanted to buy a Mexican shirt. We looked for about 1 hour and all the dresses and shirts that they had were too small, and Emma was really disappointed.     After we were done looking for dresses and shirts we went on a river boat tour.   I really liked this tour because I liked being on the water and it gave a lot of information about the river and the town.  After this we went to get some ice cream.  I sampled an ice cream called Chocolate Mudpie and I thought I was going to have an allergic reaction. I went into the bathroom to see if I had any hives, but luckily I didn’t.  I didn’t tell anyone because I thought that if I ate plain ice cream then feeling would go away.  I was glad that it did go away when I ate the ice cream.  When we were done our ice cream we went to the mall again.  In the mall I bought a toy called a clacker, which are 2 balls on strings that you need to bang together.  Then we went to the Alamo to take pictures in front it. While we were there we saw people who were giving out ghost tours.  We decide to go on them.   When we were done the ghost tour at 10:30 we went back to the RV and then we went to bed.  I had a very long and fun day!
