April 5 - by Katelyn

Today we went to New Orleans

The first thing that I did today was drive from Mississippi to New Orleans. Once we got to New Orleans we walked around the nice part of the city. There, we looked at stores and talked.  After we left from a really nice part of the city to a less nice city I asked dad "is this a nice part of the city?", and dad said yes. I was really surprised!  In New Orleans I saw a lot of things.  One cool thing that I saw was a bunch of little beads on the signs.  After that I went to Café Du Monde.  There we ate beignets. They were so good because the powdered sugar was piled up really high on them.  After that, on our way out of the café a musician on the side of the road stopped us and he said “I need help” and he handed me a maraca, Emma cymbals, and Madison a drum. I felt really happy because he kept complementing us on how we had good rhythm.  After we were done playing the guy said give a hand to these girls who have rhythm. After that we took a couple more pictures and then we had the best beans ever.  They were so good.  After that when we were walking back to the campsite we saw a lady in underwear and a bra who was cursing at a man and waving him over.   Next we went to the pool and we saw mom.  I was so excited!! Then we went to bed.  I had a great day.

April 7 day # 28

Today was our first whole day with mom!

Today woke up at 8:30 Am because we were going to go on a walking tour.  Once we got there the people said that you had to get a ticket to go.  I was really mad.  Since we couldn't go on the walking tour we went around New Orleans by ourselves.  While we were walking we went into many different stores, and we talked to mom.  After a little bit we went to Café du Monde again!  We got the same things.  I was really mad at Madison because dad said to take a bite out of the last beignet, and Madison slobbered all over it and there were barley any left.  After that I started to cry because I was so mad that I couldn’t have one last bite of the beignet, but dad said that he would get me a special treat.  After that we went on a boat ride that wasn’t really fun because it was boring.  On the ride I saw the muddy Mississippi.  The boat ride was 2 hours on the Mississippi, but it felt like 1 hour.   After the boat ride we went to Bourbon Street.  I didn’t like it.  I didn’t like it because it was so crowded. I saw a drunk man that fell over on the side if the pub.  A police car, a fire truck, and an ambulance had to help him.  After that I saw a man wearing just thongs. After that we saw a man with high heels, girls’ underwear and a bra.  After that we left Bourbon Street.  After that we went back to the RV and went to the pool.  After that we went to bed.  I had a great first day with Mom.

Hi McGovern family! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I saw your mom the other day in the parking lot. We are going to get together for lunch one day. I'll let you know when we do.
Sounds like you are having a great time. I hope it doesn't get too hot for you in the desert. I also hope that your dad got you a very special treat, Katelyn. I remember when I was a kid, my brothers and sisters did stuff like that too(slobbering on the beignet)....sounds like life to me! I love New Orleans. They have some wonderful food and they do know how to have fun! You would have enjoyed Mardi Gras...that's what the red beads were maybe from. It can be pretty wild though! Our version of Moulin Rouge maybe!
Well, here in West Chester the spring has been gorgeous! We all can't wait until school is out for summer. This weekend is the Art and Garden at Pocopson.
Got to go. Have fun and can't wait to see where you go next! I'll have Claire email you. Big hug! Mrs Dobson
