Yesterday we had a great day on the lake in Clearwater, and the girls really did not want to leave. However, the drive to Whistler is over 6 hours away, so if we choose to stay put for another day, the drive on Tuesday will be quite long. We agreed to drive 2 hours to another location that is also on a lake. It was quite a scenic drive, which also meant it was somewhat slow and winding. We made decent time, and arrived in Lone Butte at about lunch time.

The girls were in their swim suits and in the water soon after we arrived. It was a larger lake, and thus it was also a bit cooler. As a result, they stayed in the water for less time and instead opted to catch small fish with a net. I got set-up and got out the kayaks, and we all headed out on the lake.   We fished a bit, and saw many sockeye salmon jumping in the water, however they were not biting!  Many people were catching lake trout in the 10-20 pound range, but they were trolling with lines down about 40 feet, which is not something we could do in the kayak.

Emma and Katelyn were in their own kayak and got into a big fight out on the water.   They each pointed a finger at the other, and I just sent them both back in.  The lake had got much more choppy, so the ride back in was more challenging than the ride out.  When Madison and I got back in, everyone seemed to have made up, and everyone was playing again.  We made dinner, and the girls went to the playground for several hours after dinner.

Overall it was another somewhat relaxing day with nice weather. We're ready for a longer day of driving tomorrow!
