Clearwater, British Columbia
We were up and driving at 9am today. We decided to continue southwest about 120 miles to a location where we would have a lake, beach, and fishing. It was an easy drive and not at all eventful. We arrived at the Clearwater visitor center in a little over 2 hours, and then headed to our campground on Dutch Lake. We were quite pleased with the location, and the only disappointment, mainly for Madison, is that we are told that there is NO fish activity in the lake at this time of year.
The girls spent the entire afternoon in the lake. We put both kayaks in the water, and they swam and kayaked all afternoon. They first made friends with a pair of girls from London, and then with a girl from Vancouver Island. They had a great time all day, and there were not even any fights. I took the kayaks out with Emma and we found some turtles sunning on the beach, and I fished with Madison for a little bit in the evening, despite being told that the fish will not bite...they were right!
We grilled for dinner...turkey burgers and bean burgers. We are now out of turkey, which we have not seen in any Canadian stores. Their choice of meet includes beef, chicken, or pork, and it is all more than 2x the cost of what it is in the US.
Overall a very nice and relaxing day in British Columbia!
