Vermont  (Entry written by Emma)

We got to Vermont yesterday.  We drove 102 miles from New Hampshire to Vermont.   When we got to our campground it was raining so we had to do something inside.  We went into the arcade and played ping-pong.  After ping-pong we did puzzles.  Then my dad came in and he played shuffle board with us, and my dad won all three games.  We then went to the RV and had dinner.  We had pizza and peas.  We then went to bed.

Today we woke up and drove to places that Vermont was famous for.  First, we went to an apple cider mill.  On our way there, I asked my dad where we were going, but he wouldn't tell me. So the whole ride there we were wondering were we where going. When we got there we tried some jams on oyster crackers.  My favorite jam was a plum jam. Then we walked to where the apple cider was made, and we watched a movie and drank samples of apple cider. Then we went glass blowing and saw how they made glass.  We learned that glass is made of 80% sand, 10% lime, and 10% other.  I learned that it takes a really long time to make a small cup out of glass, and that is why the hand made glasses are so expensive.  Then we went to a cheese store and we tried samples.  My favorite sample was a spicy pepper jack.   We also tried a popcorn sample with cheese topping.  It was sooooo good, and we bought some of it!

Finally we got to the place I wanted to go so badly!   I felt happy and excited.  First we went into the gift shop and waited until our tour started.  I thought about buying a stuffed animal, but I decided not to because I would just be wasting my money.  They rang a bell to start our tour, and we walked into an area where we watched a movie that told us how Ben & Jerry's was started.   Then we went to a room that was really cold because the workers were making ice-cream, and the ice cream would have to stay cold.  Lastly we went to buy our own Ben and Jerry's ice-cream, and it was so good!    I learned that Jerry and Ben are still alive.

An additional note from Mike:

On the way back  to the campground, we needed to make a quick restocking trip to Walmart.  However, the quick trip turned into a complete nightmare.  As I was unloading the bags from the cart to the RV floor, the girls were clowning around.  In one of the bags was an extra large box of 'Egg Beaters', and Emma accidentally jumped on top of it.  The box exploded open, spraying eggs in a 5-foot radius.  This was a seriously big mess!  I stood in shock for several seconds, note sure what to do as I saw puddles of egg being soaked into the carpet.  I quickly soaked up what I could, and then ran back to Walmart to purchase a can of Resolve, and then spent close to 90 minutes scrubbing, soaking, and scrubbing again.  I think and hope that I got most of it, and I am sure this will be the source of many laughs in the future.

We returned to the campground at about 7pm, where we ate and prepared for bed.  I enjoyed a cold beer with the wet carpet under my feet.
