We plan to visit my Aunt on Thursday and spend the night at hers so hopefully have some interesting stuff to share and photos of Spanish Town as well. I fear I am going to be eaten alive in the Country side :0(.
The day started with my 0600 visit to the gym followed by 45 minutes trying to get WiFI to work in the main lobby. In the end I had to give up and miss my morning MSN/Internet fix. It was like going through cold turkey, I thought I was really ok with it until I noticed the foaming at the mouth and my keyboard “Enter Key” finger exhibiting the shakes
Back at the room Aunties school was having a late start! She could not get the pupils up as they were both pretending to be asleep. In the end Ericka said very softly ‘Who would like to play on their DS”? All of a sudden two sleeping children sprung out of bed! School time started 3 seconds later lol.
After breakfast the kids went to Club Mongoose for the day! The skip in my step was still there as we signed the kids over in their custody lol.
Talking of Club Mongoose, what exactly is a Mongoose? I just cant remember or picture one in my head. All I keep getting is visions of a Platypus? The sign at the entrance of the club shows a Squirrel like animal in what looks like fancy boxer shorts and missing an ear. I guess he is a Yardy Mongoose with his pants half way down in a hip dude fashion and his missing ear a war wound from his gang initiation. I looked for his spliff but he was clean (I should hope so too)! I will have to look online for a real Mongoose once I get WiFI working again lol.
Ericka and I went pool side once more and chilled with our books and magazines
It was really interesting to see the hustle and bustle of Old Town Ocho Rios where you see the real town and real people in every day life. Generally at the resort tourists are advised if they venture out of the complex to go right at the end of the drive and into the New Town where there are all the posh gift shops and Malls etc geared up for the tourists and cruise liners. If you turn left out side of the hotel drive you end up in a less desirable mix of Jamaican shops, markets, traders etc. this was real Ocho Rios. It felt like true Jamaica and was fascinating to see, although a hat and shades would of helped. Having said how interesting I found it, I also did not feel comfortable taking my camera out and snapping. Having my Aunt with us was comforting to say the least as it was clear everyone could tell we were tourists
When we got back to the Resort and my Aunt and Jessica had left I needed about 3 soft drinks to rehydrate myself!
At 1700 we collected the kids and they played in the pool for an hour before dinner.
Whilst returning from one of the bars with drinks for everyone I heard the DJ comparing a dance off. He was encouraging some girls who were in a Boston and New York challenge to “Whine dem waist” he wanted them to give it all they had. He then piped up “Wha appen in Jamaica goes on Facebook”. Every one laughed including me :0)
Later that evening we had an amazing dinner on the beach. It was a lovely setting with the waves only a few feet away from us and the moonlight flickering on the sea horizon in the distance. The food was great and I finally got some curry goat and plantain mmmm.
Now some of you are going eeuuuhhhh yukk at the Curry Goat comment. Just to set your mind at rest it is generally made from mutton (lamb), especially at a resort like this. Historically yes it would of been goat but very rare these days! Or at least I hope so lol.
