This morning I elected to join a small group of others from the boat to go back to Kapit to see their Saturday market. Other, more daring folks, went on a jungle trek that involved a lot of crossing streams and muddy trails; I didn't have the right footwear, so opted to join the next trek which will have more clear trails.

At the market, I found a lovely sarong (now that I know how to tie one properly), some beadwork, and Sago cookies. Laney and I found our way to the town centre, they call it Time Square, and came this close to buying a new Isuzu truck - really! but when we thought about how much it would cost to ship it to Canada, we opted for a fridge magnet - but that came with conditions too, so we ended up leaving empty-handed!!!

Back on board, we awaited the return of the trekkers. They all looked pretty tired and dirty, and apparently one person had a couple of leeches attached which they removed with a cigarette. Everyone was hungry, so off to lunch, and then prepare for our afternoon excursion to the Pelagus Rapids. When I get home, I'll load the video you have to see - in the entire Mini Pandaw, I was the one who got hit with a wave coming through the rapids! It was awesome! I was soaking wet, obviously, but it was hilarious!

Back on board ship we got ready for Louis' briefing for tomorrow's itinerary, and then it was time for another great meal. Tonight we cruise back towards Sibu, where 4 guests will disembark tomorrow while the rest of us continue downriver to the delta.

Incredible, Kapit, Kanowit, Sibu, and then the adventures. I love the idea of the Mini Pandaw able to go up further afield in the waters of Borneo. Amazing journey, so lush, and adventuruous.
