Where I stayed
What a fantastic adventure we have had. Leaving Drysdale on 7 March we have travelled 27,500kms, set up camp at 78 different places, met heaps of lovely people and seen so much of our beautiful country.
We have been asked what was the highlight of our trip. It is really difficult to list just one highlight. We loved every day and couldn't wait until we moved on to see what was around the corner. Each time we thought we had seen the ultimate in scenery we came across another breathtaking view. I think I said in one of our earlier blogs that the most used 3 words were "look at that" and this did not change all the way.
The weather was unbelievable. For 3 months we did not see a cloud. Each morning we awoke to bright blue skies and beautiful sunshine. Out of 164 days we only had 12 days that it rained.
Apart from Day 1, the car did not falter. We were rapt in the van. Ray was very pleased the way it towed and it had everything we needed. The shower we could have done without but the toilet was a must for nights.
Ray did all the driving and did a brilliant job. Some of the caravan park sites were very tight but he managed to squeeze us in without much of a hassle.
Petrol was $137.9 the day we left and the last refuel we had the other side of Melbourne on the way home we paid $137.9. The cheapest fuel for our trip was $127.9 with the most expensive $199.9 at Renner Springs just north of The Three Ways Junction in Northern Territory.
Having been home a couple of weeks now it all seems like a dream. We look at the map of Australia and can't believe that we have been all the way around.
Do we have any regrets or would we change anything if we did this trip again? no, the entire trip was fantastic, we had a ball and if we have the chance we will go around Oz again.
Our advice to all, do this trip you will never regret it!
