Pambula Beach Discovery Holiday Park

Pambula Beach has been our home for the last week. The park is great but as soon as you walk out your door you are greeted by kangaroos. At any given time there would be at least 40 kangas in the area. I guess it saves on mowing but what goes in must come out, it is like playing hopscotch avoiding poo. They have no fear of people and are happy to come up to your van and have a look in the doorway.
As I was walking the other morning I caught a glance of George and Dulcie Thomas, our neighbours in Hamilton for around 20 years. After a bit of investigating we finally tracked them down, they are holidaying here for 3 months. It was great to catch up with them and we spent some time reminiscing about our days in Hamilton. We met for lunch yesterday and again enjoyed our time together.
As Ray was walking from the van he spotted 2 whales swimming about 100 metres from shore. They put on an amazing display and remained in the area for a few hours. After coming back from the beach we stopped off and told a couple of our neighbours and it wasn't long before people were coming up to the van telling us to come and see the whales ...good communication.. long live the grey nomads!
At one stage there were 13 vans in the park and they were all from Victoria. If it's the warm weather they are seeking they must be disappointed as it has rained all day, the park is nearly flooded. Thank God the van has proved its worth and is still waterproof.
I did a 9km walk the other day, hoping for a miracle loss of weight. I was OK until I sat down but when I tried to stand up I thought I would never walk again. Fortunately there is a heated pool and spa at the park and after a good soak I was as good as new, of course no loss of weight.
We are off to Eden tomorrow, our shortest distance between stays, and also our second last stop off before home. We are getting very excited and are looking forward to catching up with family and friends.
