Where I stayed
Berry Springs Lakes Holiday Park

After reading some brochures we discovered that there was a crocodile farm in Noonamah that we had not noticed on the way down to the Litchfield National Park and decided to back track around 60kms as "this is the only chance we will have to see it". After making enquiries in Noonamah we were told that the croc farm no longer is a tourist park....strike 1.
Oh well,  we had been told that Berry Springs was a lovely place to stay so we decided to stay the night at the Berry Springs Lakes Holiday Park. Reading in the tourist guide it read "Darwin's best kept secret, wind up your day with a well-earned meal in the licensed tropical style bistro" sounds pretty good......strike 2. The trouble is when you book in thinking this is the park that has been recommended, and you have already paid, when you discover that it is not at all what you expected, what can you do?

We tried all the positive thinking, the site was concrete, we had green grass, the showers weren't too bad.......but the shit around some of the long term sites, old washing machines, bags of clothes, dogs etc etc. Why we didn't just pack up and move on, I have no idea!!!
We went for a drive and found the park that was recommended   - Tumbling Waters Caravan Park, but in the end we decided rather than pack up and set up again, well it was only for one night after all.
We went for a drive to Berry Creek Nature Park....strike 3, closed due to the heavy rains and the chance of crocs being in the area!!
And the "tropical style bistro", with its lovely plastic green chairs and white plastic tables, who could resist such a venue, thankfully us.
A drive out to the Darwin River Dam was probably the highlight of our stay in Berry Springs.
Well, there is one big thing about caravanning, no matter how bad the park is, your bed is the same comfy, clean bed that you slept in last night.
Just another experience to remember, oh I forgot to mention that every man and his dog got up about 5am to go work in some mine somewhere around the area.
Sorry, couldn't find much to photograph in the area.
