After nearly 9 weeks travelling, our longest stopover being 4 days, we booked into Cable Beach caravan park at Broome for the next 7 nights. It has been so relaxing just sitting around the pool, having a swim, reading or just laying back and taking it all in.
The caravan park is just a short walk to Cable Beach. Of course one of the most important things to do when you are in Broome is to take a photo of the sun setting on Cable Beach. The first evening we went to the beach there was a bit of cloud around so the sunset, although beautiful, was not as spectacular. The second night was perfect, not a cloud in the sky, oh yes, this was going to be the best sunset photo, and would have been too if the battery in the camera had been charged. As it turned out this was the only night to capture the sunset as the evenings have been overcast, sorry no beautiful sunset photos. Even without the magnificent sunsets Cable Beach is just so peaceful and is also the meeting place for travellers to meet and discuss their travels.
Another must do at Cable Beach is to go on the camel ride along Cable Beach. The ride is along the nudist beach  and sure enough, there was a silly old bugger walking along showing off "Big Jim and the twins", took a little bit of explaining for the mum on camel behind me to her young daughter. Apparently "Ollie" the camel I was on, was in the movie Australia.
We went fishing a couple of times, not a lot of luck but we did have travelly for dinner tonight, thanks to Ray.
The port at Broome was the most amazing port we have seen on our travels. Although very small compared to others, it was the height of activity. Road trains loaded 3,700 head of cattle on one of the boats and the other was loading supplies for the oil fields, all loaded on a deep water jetty where there didn't seem room to turn a car let alone a road train.
As I write this blog, we are sitting outside watching Port Adelaide and Hawthorn. We have been fortunate that we have been able to pick up most of the games.
We feel as though we have been on holidays for the past few days, the weather has been fantastic as usual and we have met some great people, but we are looking forward to heading off for Derby tomorrow.
