The trip to Tom Price, the home of the Pilbara Open Cut Iron Ore mining operation was certainly worth the roughly 1000kms return trip.
We were expecting to find it hot and dusty. Well it certainly was hot but the township and caravan park were lovely and green, not at all what we expected.  We went on a guided tour of the Rio Tinto mine and were amazed by the mass of structures and the amount of iron ore produced in this one area.  A truck driver earns around $100K per year and a train driver in excess of $200K. Big money out here, no wonder Julia wants a bigger slice of the profits.
 After 2 days discovering Tom Price tomorrow we make our trip back to the coast.
