Where I stayed
Kalbarri Anchorage Caravan Park
Kalbarri is another beautiful coastal town which lies at the mouth of the Murchison River. The caravan park was just over the road from the river so we had a great view of the activities on the river.
We spent the next day visiting the many and varied features of the Kalbarri National Park. There were numerous gorges and the scenery was unbelievable. Our biggest challenge was to visit Nature's Window, a natural rock arch that frames the upstream view of the gorge. After walking around 500 metres and climbing over rock ledges in around 40 degree heat we finally arrived at our destination. All along the way there were signs saying "heat kills" and by time we got back to the carpark we were about stuffed but agreed that for two oldies we did a pretty good job.
The only drawback was the flies, they nearly drove us mad, so we joined the new fashion in head wear and purchased a couple of nets that went over our hats, not a glamorous look but worked a treat.
Again we loved our stop off in Kalbarri and were reluctant to leave but also we were looking forward to our next stop at Denham, just short of Monkey Mia.
