Today was a travel day from Florence to Rome (or Roma with a rolling 'r' as the Italians say). It was an incredibly hot day so we were glad to be on the air conditioned bus for a while. The scenery continued to be absolutely gorgeous. Tuscany is full of sun flowers!
We got into Rome in the afternoon. After setting up our tents at the campsite we went into the city for a walking tour. Did I (Camolyn) mention that it was insanely hot?!!! We saw the Piazza di Spagna & the Spanish steps, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain.
The Pantheon is a church with a really interesting design. The builders built up the ceiling of the church in a dome-style but when they reached the very top they had no idea how to finish the ceiling so they left it. To this day there is a huge hole in the ceiling of the church. When it rains the water just comes right in and showers the place. Also worth mentioning is that the height of the building above ground is also the height of the building below the ground. Very cool!
The Trevi Fountain is the famous fountain that everyone wishes on. The Italians say that the first coin you throw over your shoulder into the fountain can be for whatever you like. The second coin is to find true love and the third is to meet an Italian and fall in love. I threw in 2!! Many women have wished for children and the ones whose wishes have come true return to the fountain and put a lock on one of the gates near the fountain with the name of their child written on the lock. There are so many of these that the Roman officials have to cut them off every two weeks.
After our walk we had supper in the Piazza Navona. The square is filled with tons of restuarants and cafes. We picked one of the many and had an excellent Italian meal. The other two girls we were with got a little more than they bargained for when one of the waiters offered to go home with them!! How romantic. We finished off the evening with some gelatto!

Post Card
Thank you for the Post Card! It made Eden, Trevor and I smile that you would remember our Wedding Day! Sounds like your having lots of fun.....topless or not keep smiling. I'm 34 weeks and ready for baby to come out......I can't sleep at night and take 3-4 hour naps during the day. Thankfully it has not been too hot or I have been able to hide inside so I do not swell up as much.
Counting down the days until you get back and I can visit you.
Love C,T,E and Baby
