On July 10, we had to get up early and pack up our site. This was easier said than done because the tent, mattresses, and lawn chairs didn't seem to fit in the bag anymore. Go figure. Once packed up, we had a breakfast of crossaints with meat and cheese, and piled on to the bus. Then we began our extremely long day of travel toward the Swiss Alps.
We travelled in 2 hour increments, then got to stop at these little complexes located along the highway that basically have a gas station, bathrooms, a food court, and a convenience store. We usually stop for 20 minutes to half an hour, which breaks up the drive nicely. We travelled from 8 am to 8 pm, however, with three stops, so it was an extremely long day. We got stuck in traffic in Paris, and in Switzerland, where we didn't move at all for almost an hour.
We had a beautiful drive through the Swiss Alp region to our campsite, which was located near the town of Lauterbrunnen, under the Jungfrau mountain. The site is absolutely amazing. We set up our tents under one of the cliffs of the Alps, which has a huge waterfall running down it. It was so peaceful to fall asleep to. The facilities are also extremely nice, so we had very long and hot showers before heading to bed.
It was another loud night in the campsite though, with one of the guys yelling loudly for about an hour in some foreign language while other people yelled back at him to shut up. It was quite cold too, nearing zero degrees over night. It was almost like camping in Canada!
More on our tour group...Our group is made up of 5 Canadians (including us), a lot of Australians, some New Zealanders, a few South Africans, and two Koreans. We have been chatting a lot with one Australian guy and a New Zealander, and comparing terminology and cultural norms. Everyone is pretty amazed when we tell them about how cold it gets in the winter and how we have to plug our cars into electrical outlets. Also, they seem to find the fact that we call pharmacies 'drug stores' extremely odd. Like we said, the group is made up of some pretty wild partiers. We are not sure how they do it, but we need our beauty sleep! There are also some cool people too, and we are trying to set up some places to stay in our future travels, haha.

Fantastic!
That's the area of the Alps I went to! I absolutely loved it there. If you make it to Wengen, go to the hotel Jungfraubrick, there should be an Irish dude working it. See if he remembers his first customer from 2007, a friendly Canadian lad :P.
Riders are in the lead!!
Hey Girls!!
Just a quick message while our football team is taking it to the Toronto Argos!!! Wow, Marnie, love your postings, I'm truly envious of your trip from the great deceptions!! Keep taking it in to the fullest, girls!!! What memories you will have!!! Right now cloudy and cold in Saskatchwan!! Believe it or not, the furnace kicked in this morning!!! I'll bet Deanne and Adam are freezing out at Craven!! By the way, Taylor Swift was apparently amazing!!!
