After landing in Durban Monday morning, Elize (Paul's Aunty) picked us up from the airport after a quick one-hour flight, and then we were dropped off at her place for the remainder of the day. Here we met his and her highnesses, Chucky the Yorkie, Puppy the Maltese-cross and Tammy the grump (haha, actually she was a Pekinese-cross. After getting settled and having much needed showers, we ventured out to the Pavilion for the rest of the day (one of few shopping malls within the Durban area). Thanks to Johan's trusty GPS we managed to find our way... most of the time!

Tuesday we headed up to Ballito to the beach that Paul had told me about. Before we reached the beach we stopped off for brunch at Umdloti, where we looked over the beach and at the massive cargo ships out on the horizon. From here we carried on up to Ballito, and we found the family's old holiday flat but much to Paul's shock it had changed a lot – with an extra level built on top and a huge extension added to the front. From there we walked down to the beach but after dipping our feet into the freezing cold water we thought we'd stay on the dry sand instead. I couldn't get over the grainy sand compared to home. We weren't even safe on the beach where we had a few hagglers coming around trying to sell their wares – I've discovered Paul's poor ability to say 'no' so here we bought a little beaded elephant keyring, course I wanted to bargain but thought it best not to.

By now we were experiencing major internet withdrawals so thought we'd try and find a internet cafe so we headed towards Durban central. We weren't here very long – after walking the streets for about 5minutes and not seeing a single 'white' face and after crossing our 3rd stand which sold cheap mobile phone covers and knock off sunnies we thought it best to try one of the local suburbs instead. We headed back towards Elize's and stopped off in the small mall in Kloof, here we found a post office with internet access – yay!! From here we carried on back to Elize's and we had a yummy home cooked meal, thanks Elize the chicken was fab :)
