I'm a bit let down by how quiet it is outside the New Delhi airport. Prepared to be tackled by any number of aggressive touts and con artists, I find myself instead completely left alone. I actually need to approach someone and ask where the cabs are.
But the drive into the city is lots of fun. I'm not sure why they bother putting horns in cars or lines on the road; no one seems to regard either of them. What little I can see through the filthy windshield and fog forms a sort of brake light ballet as vehicles weave and dip across the road in front of my driver, who is an active participant in the dance.
Right underneath the dis-repaired Speed Kills Drive Safe sign, I count 7 vehicles wedged across 4 lanes, all enthusiastically honking.
