22/9 Wednesday Greve, Chianti,
Slower start, Margaret still has cold, however feeling a bit better and certainly not poor enough to miss a day in Tuscany country. Walked to the station to catch another Sita bus, this time to Greve in the heart of Chianti, wine country. Bus was rushing even though we weren't in Hurry ourselves, over good roads spoiled by poor surface so ride was rough, better coming back via a different more scenic route. Much less crowds, always hear an Australian accent, although not as many as Italian, also lots of americans and few English.
Enjoyed being In the countryside away from lots of people especially tour groups, they must drive the locals crazy, but they give lots of them an income.
Had a relaxing lunch, in a quiet setting, if you don't count the American and Canadian accents with a bit of Italian. We have found the food better in the smaller towns. In Florence lots of restaurants have tourist menus which aren't that great, pizza, pasta etc. We have found a good spot for cheap coffee in the morning surprisingly near the Duomo, which is on the way to the station.
We are getting used to being serenaded at night, will have to buy a .CD from one guy who sings on the plaza every night. Weather warm, few clouds, no wind, a little cooler at night.
