At the New York Times travel show at the Jacob Javits Center, we went to Indonesia -- the woman at the booth was super nice. She gave the girls several magnets of a rice field.
We met Susan Orlean (whom I follow on Twitter) coming up the escalator. She was almost as nice as the woman from Indonesia.
The travel show was awesome. As my friend Dan said, to the kids the show was like trick or treating for Halloween. So much good free stuff at every table - candy, mousepads, bags, pens. But also there was a friendliness of the fellow travelers and the exhibitors.
It was a great travel experience with my kids and I did not have to leave Manhattan.
