May 15 - Dubrovnik, Croatia (4)
We must be in a little weather system because the seas are rolling :-)  The new group of guests are a little younger and were partying ALL night, and not moving too fast today. The combination of rolling waves and hangovers has disabled the majority. I'm lovin' it. Its so rough the entertainment is cancelled tonight for the safety of the dancers and is replaced with a movie - although this crowd will likely spend all afternoon milking their hangovers and get back in the saddle tonight.  Docking in Dubrovnik after 2pm, I scheduled a cut n' colour with the ridiculously expensive stylist (even with the crew discount). Great timing!

May 16  Corfu, Greece (3)
Last time in Corfu!  Again, unprepared for what was to unfold today - never would have guessed.  My South African friend 'El' and I only planned a walk into town and grab a 'Greek' bite to eat. That's it! And it started out that way!  On the bus ride to the port terminal, we doubled in numbers to include the Chief Purser (who is Greek) and second purser (from Vancouver - imagine that!). We set off under the direction of Niko, totally the opposite of the way I'd have gone, and did the walking tour of the 'new' or 'real' area of Corfu, through residential parks and shopping avenues eventually ending up in the 'old town'. A delightful stroll on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  Now the fun begins - restaurants everywhere, but we're looking for the local, out of the way, garlicky one, which of course we find. Niko orders 1/2 the menu (in Greek) so we have no idea. What a feast and accompanied by Greek music and a couple Mythos beer. So delicious, so full, so much fun!

May 17 Katakolon, Greece (3)
On my own today with an hour of freedom. I brokered a deal with the scooter shop for next visit. I told him he was too expensive, LOL. He eventually told me those were tourist prices and pretty much cut the rental in half. When I got back to the ship, I checked out when we returned. Answer - never (at least on my contract) - eh, it was fun talking to the guy!
I wandered down the one street checking out the touristy trinkets and chatting with the locals. Spiros was telling me about Ouzo, Georges had some lovely jewelry I should buy, etc. etc. I didn't mean to lead them along, but I like to spend time with the shop keepers and joke and make them laugh. I think they like the diversion from the typical rude shopper that even my crew members seem to practice.

May 18 Santorini, Greece (2)
I like Santorini a lot. The more I research it, the more interesting it is. For instance, it is the crater of a volcano filled with water. The moon shaped island is one side of the crater, and the other islands fill in the circle. It is a candidate for the legendary lost city of Atlantis. Around 1600BC a huge volcano blew forming the crater and destroying the civilization on it. Akrotiri is the site to visit but is closed unfortunately.  I would love to check that out :-(
From the ship, I look at the cliffs in a different light. Imagine the crater without the water. I think I read its 7km across. Crazy. Good thing as I was unable to go ashore today - too busy!
