May 06 - Kusadasi, Turkey
I woke up at dawn with rolling waves out the pothole. Next time I woke up, there were buildings out the porthole and we were parked. How did that happen?

When I woke up, I could not have guessed what was in store for me. Scuba Diving! Oh ya!  A good part of my day consists of visiting several areas of the ship and socializing, delivering cookies and snacks (most crew don't have access to these little goodies) and generally just shooting the s&*%. I believe its in my job description. Today, I was joking with the local guide and scuba diving fell out of my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised to hear a positive reaction. I then solicited another crew member who happens to book the tours. All good so far.  yada yada yada!  End result - we did 2 great dives today (I think I was in diving withdrawl), and, we made a contact for future visits (6 more times b4 my contract ends), so we can include other diving crew members and preplan our day. Fantastic! Best parts of the dives - we saw a few 'centuries old' urns, some broken, some whole, wedged into the rock formations, and lots of brilliantly coloured, albeit smaller fish that I'd never seen before. The dive master broke a couple of sea urchins and placed them in our hands, and these colourful fish had a feeding frenzy on our hands. I'll post the pics when I get them!

BTW - Kusadasi is very cool. I know there are many historic 'must sees' but sometimes I must sea! A shopping mecca, as I learned later (via bartering and haggling). Lots of leather jackets bought by crew.
