i got my old passport back today. and my new expert certificate with the corrected passport number. they said i should be getting my new passport back on the 5th. so i might actually be able to do some traveling in june. which is great because mike has been talking about visiting nick in taiwan.

in fact, he, susan and brian have even finalized their plans. from 6/16-6/21, they're going to japan. then they're flying to taiwan and staying there till the 29th. i want to go. i haven't seen them since the ggn conference, and it'll be nice to be around friends again.

but i'm a little anxious to make plans. after the whole india debacle, i don't want to get my hopes up about anything. i'm not doing anything until i have that passport in my hand. with the right visa. luckily i don't have to worry about visas in japan and taiwan. i get 60 days stamps for both countries. so that's one less thing i don't have to worry about.

the only thing i'm going to do is contact some people off of couchsurfing. nick's place is tiny so i know i'll need a place. and that's free. but i'm not looking into flights yet until i've got that passport. then i'll go to shanghai and see what kind of deals sta can get me.

Good!
It definitely is not a good idea to plan a trip until you've got all those important documents physically in your hands before you leave.
