We flew to Norfolk VA from Newark. Spent the Friday night at the Springhill Suites Newark NJ. Due to date constriction we weren't able to leave out of Bayonne. The flight was on time and completely uneventful. We landed in Norfolk, and we were greeted by a Royal Caribbean representative at the bottom of the escalator. We retrieved our checked bags and were whisked off to a waiting car. We were pleasantly surprised to found the third person in the car was from the next town over from where we live. We landed at 9:30am and we were entering the cruise terminal at 10:15 am. The traffic at the terminal was terrible. Future reference note: get dropped off near by and walk over to the terminal. Somehow we missed the porters and got stuck carrying our luggage all the way through the check-in process. But, we didn't have to wait for our bags to get to our state room.
We worked our way up to the Windjammer Cafe, stopping to get a soda card for the rest of the trip. Note: Only worth the 30.00 if you plan to drink lots of soda. Otherwise water, iced tea, hot tea, coffee, and juice are included. We got the soda package, and it turned out to be the most expensive to go cup, we never drink a soda at all. After lunch, we were off to locate our cabin, deck 4 and towards the front of the ship (4526). Excellent location, near the elevators. Gladstone refered to camping at sea, as our cabin reminded us both of the bedroom area of a travel trailer. The bathroom was a good size, with a fairly large shower.
