Dear Friends,

I will be brief. I have to get up early in the morning and go to Wilma's shop, The Gathering Goddess (photos to follow) and then I have at 10am appointment with the head of Blue Note Records here, a 12 noon appointment with a man interested in Dexter's wardrobe, and a 4pm appointment at Ronnie Scott's Club to discuss a tribute to Dexter. I put all the business into one day. I leave for Paris at 8am on Tuesday and then to New York on Wednesday morning.

This trip has been so different from Paris. Well, naturally it would be but I didn't realize how accustomed I had gotten to speaking and hearing French. It was a bit unnerving at first to hear English with the British accent. Wilma has a beautiful house of course and her son is living here now. He is 18 and we are having quite a nice time together since he is a new jazz fan. Her husband has been very gracious between conference calls on his iPhone and headset. We went to a fabulous place, Barnsley House, overnight on Friday. You will see the photos.

To you who have read all those British novels and mysteries, let me say that it is as if we walked right into the pages. Everything remains as it was. The people seem to be from another time but it's just that they live the life that we only see in films and in books. Fascinating to say the least. I do believe I was here in another life and when I see a tea room, I must go in and have a pot of Earl Grey and a scone. I must.

Today we went to Portobello Road for manicure and pedicure so I will return ready for New York and its sidewalks. I want you to see the photos so I will not write more but I thank you all again for making the trip with me and thank you for the comments.

See you all soon.  Love, Maxine
