It was toasty warm today, well hot!!

Trip to Rakaia Gorge. We ventured out in the car and once
out of the grid system of the city it was one long straight road. Amazing how
little traffic there was once you're out of the city. Easy driving, well for
Michael as I am still not doing the driving! Lots of fields, sheep and then
mountains in the distance. Very nice views, which then turned into a stunning
view, once we got to the gorge itself.

Lunch by the river, the colour of which was an amazing turquoise.
The pictures don't quite capture how brilliant it was.

Then a walk to get a bit higher up and a better view of the
twists and turns of the river. It was very hot work so on the way back we made
the most of the clear river water to cool off.

On the way back we saw some other people stopped by the side
of the road doing what I have named the "yippee, wide open spaces" stance. Good
to know I am not the only one that keeps doing this.

A sudden stop at a pull off point meant we had a great view
of a braided river. STUNNING.
