Our day started with a good breakfast at The Admiral. They had a lot of different choices like muffins, toast, waffles, boiled eggs, fruit and more. We had to be quick about it because we were due at the ferry dock by 9am. It's a good thing that the ferry dock was right down the street.

We got checked in and had to wait in our car an hour and half until the ferry arrived-we weren't allowed to leave the area because of regulations. I was disappointed because I wanted to get a penny for my collection but the Visitor's Centre was outside the ferry yard. I haven't been able to add to my collection since the Icefields Parkway.

We finally drove onto the ferry and got some good seats upstairs. Mom and I went to the store to spend all our Canadian cash and Dad took photos. The ferry was pretty crowded. It was a 90 minute crossing and Mom and I passed the time with UNO and touring the deck. It was really windy outside so we came back inside. After awhile, it got really foggy out and the captain wasn't permitting people out in the front of the boat. They kept blowing the ship's horn and crewmen were watching for boats. Finally we arrived in Port Angeles, WA and I was happy to be back in the USA!

The entrance to Olympic National Park is near the Port, so we were inside quickly. Dad drove us up to Hurricane Ridge, which is a viewing area where you can see a lot of mountains in the Olympic Mountain Range. The weather was really clear and you could also see over to Vancouver Island, where we had just come from. The wildflowers around Hurricane Ridge were a pretty purple color and the smelled really nice. We saw several deer munching on them. The Visitors Center at Hurricane Ridge has a nice cafe where we all had burgers. I had seasoned fries with mine and they were really good.

We drove Highway #112 around the Olympic peninsula and got our first look at the Pacific Ocean up close. It smelled really fishy and was cold! We drove through Forks to get to the Manitou Lodge, where we are staying for the next 3 nights. The lodge is in the woods and has a really comfy great room with a fireplace and lots of games to play. We have our own area with a fridge, microwave and small table. The bedroom is on the 2nd floor and is big, with a deck attached to lounge outside.

After so much traveling, we weren't in the mood for going out again, so we heated some soup and went to bed early.

Cyndee Groch on

The deer in the wildflowers photo was my favorite, followed by a close second of the shot of you and Mom!
