We had hardly fallen asleep when the alarm woke up and we had to get to the boat dock. The boat sailed at 7:30am and we had to be there 2 hours ahead-ouch! I slept in the car and once we got on board, so I missed the take off. Mom said we left the dock on time.

We're on a BC Ferry boat called the "Northern Expedition". Calling it just a boat doesn't see right because it is very big and is the biggest ship I've ever been on. Mom says the ship is about 3 years old and can hold up to 600 passengers and 130 vehicles. Our seats are on deck 5, looking out towards the islands. The cafe and restaurant are on deck 4, along with the lounge where there are big screens to watch TV and movies.

The route we took is called the "Inside Passage" and this is the way between the mainland and the islands. In some parts, you are in a narrow place between land and you can see trees and waterfalls. In other parts, you can see boats and whales off in the distance. Two times the captain announced that there were whales off the starboard side, but I didn't see anything. Mom said she saw a distant fin or tail through the binoculars.

Dad saw a boat that was named "Loon Asea".

So the ship was really nice, but it was the slowest boat I have ever been on. To pass the time I spent a lot of time in the Raven Lounge, where the tvs are. They played the Olympics. Then at 3:00 I watched the movie Ramona and Beezus. It's about Ramona who's sister is Beezus and when her family falls on hard times. Again at 8:00 mom and I watched P S I Love You. That one was about a woman who loses her husband and how his letters help her cope with it. Finally at 10:30 pm we got off the boat and then to our hotel. We went to bed as soon as we got there. It was really tiring to sit on the boat all day!

what beautiful pictures.

I love riding the ferry, but I usually only ride from Vancouver to Victoria, and it's just a couple of hours. But the views are stunning, and your descriptions were fun to read.

The views from the ferry are amazing. Bob seems to be enjoying himself!
