We made a really early start out of camp and didn't stop until we reached Gillette, WY for breakfast at 9:30am. We stopped at Perkins and I had a mango smoothie with my omelet. Mom and Dad had a big breakfast too becuz the plan was not to stop for lunch. We also stopped at Albertsons, a real grocery store, for Ice and essentials.

The drive through Wyoming was long and pretty boring. One thing that Mom and I thought was funny were all these billboards along the highway that advertised going to Yellowstone by another highway that was safer, more scenic and faster but Dad chose another route. Mom and I called our route the dangerous, ugly and slow route. Turned out, Dad's way was really cool with lots of twisty roads and pretty scenery. We even saw snow in the Big Horn Mtns. Just goes to show, you have to trust Dad. Except sometimes he takes a wrong turn, like when we ended up in Frannie,WY. That was a detour that ended up being a lot of fun!

We finally got to Yellowstone at about 6:30pm. That was just the entrance and we drove another hour to the Lake Hotel cabin where we spent the first night. Our cabin wasn't as nice as the one at Cedar Pass, but Mom said that spoiled us. This cabin had no TV, or fridge or microwave. But it was comfortable and mom and dad said it was fine. Then a storm rolled in and we lost power! I was pretty scared, and Dad went out in the rain to get the lantern. By the time he got back, the lights came back on. They went in and out a few times.

Mom says Happy Birthday to Sharon G!
