So, last night, after we arrived in De Smet, and checked into the De Smet Super Deluxe Inn and Suites. Then we went to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant. Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote the Little House on the Prairie books. The pageant was a reenactment of her book The Long Winter. The play wasn't that bad. It was about blizzards that lasted for seven months and the trains couldn't get to town so the villagers started to run out of food. There were also carriage rides. We went on the last one and it was really fun! Before we left the pageant, we got a book all about Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family. In my opinion, today was a pretty fun day.

From Fran: We listened to By the Shores of Silver Lake on the drive to SD. Laura writes about how hard the wagon journey was in the 1870's. Our trip echoed their wagon journey but took a half a day!
