Where I stayed
Alexandra Bridge Camp site

The drive to Alexandra Bridge from Augusta was a short 26kms.

Alexandra Bridge is a very popular spot beside the Blackwood River for campers who enjoy fishing, canoeing and boating or maybe a bike ride.
Or for people like me, who just want to stop over for the night and not have to pay exorbitant park fees.
I drove around the grounds for a few minutes trying to find a suitable site as the best ones near the river had already been taken, so I opted for one within walking distance to the amenities.
I wasn't too keen on the number of tall trees surrounding the camp as it had been raining on and off now for a couple of days and the ground was rather soft under foot and I had this vivid imagination that the dark clouds looming were going to bring more rain and perhaps even thunder and lightening and during the storm one of those trees would come crashing down on me through the night.

The rain held off for a couple of hours just long enough for the people over in the next spot to light up a fire and send smoke signals, I can only assume to the next town forewarning of the pending storm, as they certainly weren't making any fire.

After about an hour of smoke emanating from the pit, they finally had a roaring fire...sadly this was doused by the storm clouds that opened up and brought rain...rain, and more rain all night.

In the morning I ventured through the puddles and mud to the amenities block looking for the shower that was mentioned in my camps book, found it...but...oops, "Where's the door?" Not exactly what I was expecting. There is a shower but it's just a showerhead protruding out of the wall and completely open...no shower for me, thank you very much.

Back to the van, time for breakfast, pack up and off again this time to Nannup.
