The day started off with a rushed trip to the one and only panel beater in South Hedland to see about my vans stuck bonnet. Thankfully the problem was solved in less than a minute. The latch had slipped to the other side of the bracket therefore making it impossible to engage. Was I grateful...once again luck was on my side for a change. That makes three out of three, do you think things are going to get better???? That would be nice.
Then I made a quick stop at the shopping centre before taking off towards Roebourne.
The journey was less than boring even though the countryside had little to offer for several kms.
Then it went from barren to mountains and rocks and mountains and glorious colours, amazing how it just keeps on changing
There were hundreds of brightly coloured 4x4 utes and vans that kept roaring past me eager to get to their next job at the mines, flags flapping at the end of long poles. which I'm told are to forewarn oncoming traffic in the sand dunes, not sure what the significance of them is out in the mines?. There seemed to be an influx of Road Trains bearing down on me at great speeds, so much so that each time my side mirror swayed in the downdraft or updraft, whichever...No matter which one, the van was shaken and swayed and at times, pushed to the edge of the road from the force. Scary!

I lunched at a lovely spot by the river, one that actually had water in it, rare in this neck of the woods...
After lunch is was another long haul to Roebourne where I was pleasantly surprised by this old town, first thing you see when you turn the bend is the original jail, which now serves as the visitor's centre. Apparently Roebourne is the home of several well know Aboriginal artists...doesn't mention which ones in the brochure...Once gain I missed out on going to Dampier as there are no van parks that allow dogs, guess that's the price I will be paying all along this "trip".
I am nestled into a "freebie" again tonight having spent an enormous amount today of petrol. The road was long with nothing to see in between so I just kept on mov'n. I'm hoping to reach the ocean again soon as I feel the need of fresh air and especially a place for the dogs to run.

p.s. I'm not in Onslow but once again I can't pin point my position so that's the next town about 120kms south west from here.
