Where I stayed
Barkly Homestead Roadhouse
Crossed the border into NT and the temperature is increasing every day...outside 38...inside it's about another 10 degrees hotter sitting next to the engine and no air con...poor dogs are suffering in the back as I couldn't open the windows due to road works on the red dusty roads which were creating a cloud of heavy "red smoke" from the car in front of me. I was forced to slow down to a crawl to stop the van from being shaken to death driving across the corrugations.
Bit like having a free massage while driving.
After 20 odd kms of rough roads it was back to the bitumen and a little more speed.
The countryside is charred and it's very boring.
Finally after 260 odd kms down the track I arrived at a lovely place called Barkly Homestead Roadhouse, where I stayed for the night. But missed taking a photo of the most magical sunset ever. So annoyed with myself about that. By the time I had realised it was sinking into the distance and had run back to get my camera...it had disappeared..
p.s. I had to put this entry under Tennant Creek as Barkly Homestead isn't on the map...
