Well here we go again. Thought I had left my problems in Cairns after a great 5 days on the road.
Alas! After camping over night in a 'freebie' on the way to Cloncurry the battery in my camera died and as I had an auxilary battery and inverter installed specifically for recharging and using while without power, I turned the inverter on only to find out it was no longer working.
So I stayed in the caravan park for the night and left the next morning for Mt Isa, knowing full well it was Sunday and nothing would be open.
First stop the Information centre to find out what was available as far as camp sites as the new Camps 6 book was showing nothing...strange as it's suppose to be the latest edition...with all the updates and an additional 450 sites...mmmmm.
First thing Monday morning it was off to get a new tyre considering mine had been left in shreds along the highway. I was advised not to keep the spare, as a spare, as it was in a very dangerous condition and could also blow at any time, so needless to say I had to buy two new tyres more $$$$.This done it was back to town and try and sort the next problem out...the inverter!
I rang RV installations to tell them of my problem and they suggested a couple of things...all to no avail. Then they rang the suppliers and in turn I was given his number to call him to try and sort this 'PROBLEM" out.
He gave me 4 different numbers which I started calling...not one person was available before 2 - 4 weeks, wrong time of the year apparently, everyone is busy. Yeh!!!!
More calls to supplier and installer and finally found someone who will be available on Thursday.
So here I am, stuck in Mt Isa in a dusty caravan park for the next couple of days not knowing what the results are going to be.
" Yes your inverter is stuffed and we will have to order one" or " there you go it's all fixed" , my luck says it's the former and not the latter.
To be continued:
