Welcome to Cologne the receptionist said.. the forecast is for rain, snow and -1 degree...guess that is what German winters are about.
Rugged up we venture out of doors and find it suprisly crisp cool but not bitterly cold or unpleasant. Umbrellas are up, and we join the groups wandering around the Cologne Cathedral. Being a Monday it allows us the room and less crowds to view this gigantic church that towers above all that surrounds..later this day we are able to wander back through several areas by using it's tower as our landmark..
Inside the cathedral is amazing..the height of it's ceiling is amazing.. the organ pipes up so high would create such a presence. The stain glass windows are brilliant.. so many different designs telling their own part of history.
A brisk walk through the surrounding Cathedral xmas markets and we head up to view the Rudolfplatz xmas markets.. every xmas market has it's own theme, in it's decor, foods etc.. all distinctively different so one never tires looking at  more & more xmas , foods, sights  etc.
Being "zero"!! degrees at 12 noon, and a light snow falling !!.. a visit into some of the surrounding department stores to warm up and thaw out is required. Good old Starbucks saves the day many times.. Brisk walking is the key to surviving in this weather, and walk we do.
In total we have walked/ visited "seven!" xmas markets in Cologne,, the city has put on a magnificent show.. from the city centre..Cologne is located on both sides of the Rhine River... to the riverside markets.. the visit to this city of one million plus has delighted us...

No hotel accommodation for us tonite.. the overnite train to Prague awaits !! All aboard...
