Where I stayed
Tuscany Kangas.. Lenzi B&B
So easy to get around here..bus to Pontdera then
express train to Florence..called the most beautiful city in Italy.. and who are
we to argue..
from the train station the Duomo beckons us to
come, come in and be dazzled ..with it's walls of three colours of marble
..white, red and green it is a photographers delight..
A statue of David watches over as one wanders from
building to building, statue to statue.. amazed at the brilliance, detail and
sheer size of it all..
Into The Uffizi galleria we go, the finest picture
gallery in Italy. A few hours is the minimum here
So many masterpieces in the one place, from
Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo,Ruebens,Rembrandt to name a few.
Then it's over for a different type of
brilliance..The Ponte Vecchio bridge ( circa 1345) and all it's jewellery/ gold
stores...up to the 16th century itwas occupid by butchers, fishmongers and
tanners but now the tourists and bigspenders cram the area.
With wallets intact we wander off to Piazza Santo
Spirito for the market stalls, leather shops before heading up to the roof top
coffee shop of *********** department store.
The 4 euro was well spent on the cup of coffee for
the views we had of the city..thanks again Jon ...
Not a lot of shopping done here by us but a lot of
knowledege and culture gained in this lovely city...plus a lot more photographs
added.
Home to our great home away from home and Massimo
had made us some Tiramisu ..what a place, what great hosts!!
