As we loaded up the bus for our final day of the Small Town Charm Photo shoot, we were a bit dismayed by the weather. It was very cloudy, but we were assured by the forecast that it wasn't supposed to rain....well....it rained. And it rained. And it rained. And what became so ironic about the entire situation is that every local person we talked to said the same thing, "It never rains in this part of Utah". So apparently our weather curse decided to follow us on our entire trip!
Despite the rain, we spent our day in Snow Canyon State Park and once again we were blown away by the beauty. We arrived at the petrified dunes which would have been a beautiful back-drop, but we were unable to shoot there due to you guessed it - the rain. So after several hours of waiting it out, our team decided we needed to head for dryer ground. After only a few minutes of scouting, we were able to find some cavernous areas that we thought would work great. We only had three hours left of light in order to shoot 5 outfits. We knew it was going to be tight, but we knew we could do it with our team. Everyone worked feverishly to get lighting set and re-set and also to keep the camera's and equipment dry and free from sand. Not an easy task!
Our models were able to work through the difficult weather and did it with smile's on their faces. Marquita was modeling a chiffon butterfly kabuki in a small, winding crevice and the shots were absolutely stunning. We all agreed at that point that the rain maybe wasn't such a bad thing. Katie was also in this same space modeling one of our Wear @ Work belted colorblock dresses and that pop of color really worked well against the red rocks. We never made it out to our second location in Sand Hollow State Park due to the time constraints, but that's the chance you take when you have a an outdoor photo shoot.
Thank you to everyone in St. George and the surrounding communities for your hospitality and support during our stay - many of us will definately be back some day! And a special thank you to all of our family and loved ones back home for taking care of things while we have been on the road for the past 10 days. We appreciate your support most of all!
