After almost 3 months Malaysia, a weekend trip to Singapore was compulsory!!!
I did not have much expectations of the country/ town but in the end... it was ok....!!

After the eventful weekend the week before and while getting ready for the Sarawakian adventure, a town weekend was good!!!

Singapore is really nice as a city where you feel almost as if you were in Europe apart from the fact that there are a lot of Chinese and Indian people!!! In terms of organisation, cleanliness, all you hear is true!!!

There is architecture, history, museums as well as shopping malls, shopping malls and shopping malls!!! There are some really nice old chinese houses hidden in some streets which should not be forgotten. It is one of the charms of Singapore I think over KL.

Me and Hessel tried to avoid the shopping malls and the theme park and went for the more cultural side I guess. We went to the history museum in a stunning lookiming building, for the famous cocktail in the Raffles hotel while eating peanuts in the famous Long bar...

Chinatown was quite amazing this weekend because it was the beginning of the Mooncake festival and there was big celebrations for it: firecrackers, dragon dances, traditional custumes, music, etc.... perfect entertainment!!!

We also went to the night zoo which as everyone says is very good and should be done in Sin!! We saw all but one of the animals that we were meant to see. They were all quite active.... Did the zoo give them some red bull before we arrived, I do not know!! The most impressive animal was the flying squirrel which is like squirrel because it has the head and the tail of one but then after that to me it's more like a bat!!!! It has wings and after it feels as if he has climbed high enough (using its legs) it just glides down, but we are not talking small distances here!! The maximum is 400m!!!! and it is not so scared of human as it glides pretty close to you!!!

Going out in Singapore is also quite something. There are streets with just a little roof which are air conditioned! Who has seen that before?? Not me!! All the bars are really modern and trying to outdo one another with originality... It's quite impressive! We just went to the traditional beer and satay one! Boring but good!

Little India is as usual my favourite place and I can never get enough of looking at all the saris and bangles. The temples which here are from South India are very pretty .
Singapore is very nice and the mix of culture between western and asian is good but to my liking it is almost too western. I love the mess of KL with traffic jam and the stalls at the street corners...
