We touched down to a beautiful morning in Colombia and waited for Timmo to arrive from lima. After 30 minutes or so he popped his head out and we got a cab to the centre of town to have a little walk around. He checked into a hostel then we went to explore town
It is a main square much like the rest of the squares in Latin America with churches, museums and what ever else they have there but Bogota's is huge. It is really big, with lots of antique buildings, and like the rest of Latin America, there are beggars, llamas and pigeons... lots of pigeons. Afterwards, jenny walked around and did some shopping and we looked at some of the graffiti around town which was awesome. Apparently there are graffiti tours around town and i can see why. Some really talented artist around town. After all this running around, it was time to leave so we walked timmo back to his hostel and got in a cab. When we got to the airport we were early as we already had our tickets and our bags were checked through so we passed security and did some duty free shopping
The flight was good, I got to speak English and eat clean food and even had my first Canadian beer. 6 hours later and we landed in Canada. Welcome to the cold! I had trouble getting through customs as i had just been in south America and stopped for 6 hours in Colombia. Drugs or weapons? Which did i have with me? I was interrogated by 3 different customs and immigration officials for about 15 minutes, but after telling them how much money i had i was let Straight through. Welcome to Toronto :-) One thing I have always heard is that Canadians were extremely friendly but after my debacle with customs I was questioning it. It all turned around when someone who didn't work at the airport asked us if we needed any help and directed us where to go. Nice canada-1 unhelpful canada-3. We got to the hotel and I called Alex but it was 11pm and we decided to meet in the morning for breakfast.
