Adios Mexico.  Ola San Jose, Costa Rica.  I arrived in Costa Rica at 9:30 am, and didn't have a flight until 4 o'clock.  So i figured that i would have enough time to at very least get a quick taste of the capital city.  And I just wanted to get another passport stamp to add to the collection really.   I didn't know where to begin so while walking through the airport, i saw a young fellow working behind the registered taxi counter, and figured he might be my best best.  After so quick negotiations on prices, I had my driver, Jose take me to the cab to begin my quick outing.  Now once we were in the car driving, i realized that not only should I have negotiated the price, but also include a driver that spoke english!  Oh well, no big deal.  Through many hand signs and pointing, we both managed to get by.   I don't think that Jose has really been trained in the art of being a tour guide, or perhaps the city of San Jose didn't have too much to offer.  We drove by some parks, he showed me the new soccer stadium that is being built, a few churches and museums, but since it was a holiday in Costa Rica, not much was open.  The first time we pulled over to take a few pictures of the park, i wasn't a 100% sure if I could fully trust Jose, seeing as in my backpack in the back seat of the cab, and there was enough money/laptop/camera that i am sure he could have taken the rest of the week, if not month off.  I only took a few paces from the car, keeping my eyes on the bright orange cab, ready to run back and jump in the passenger window. But sure enough, he was a really nice older man, that couldn't move that fast if he wanted.  After an hour or so, we stopped for lunch.  He asked me if I wanted Burger King or something like that, I told him I could eat that crap any time I wanted.  He took me to a nice little restaurant in the middle of the city where he knew that people would speak english and be able to help me with any requests.
The whole city is surrounded with nice mountains.  And another thing i noticed was that the quality of life seemed to be rather good.  I knew for a fact that with my 3 hours around the city, I was by no means doing the country, that is know for it's amazing eco-tourism, any justice.  To be on the safe side I decided to head back to the airport in hopes of maybe catching a few ZZZzz's before my next flight.  That was pretty much Costa Rica in a nutshell.  Not too much that can be done with amount of time given, but I would love to come back to see more of what this country has to offer.  Off to what was supposed to be my actual first destination, Peru, where I will have my first actual couchsurfing experience.  Chow for now.
