I was looking forward to Buenos Aires for a while after hearing so much about it from countless other travellers and none of it bad. As soon as I arrived and made my way to my hostel I could see how different it was from the rest of south america with all the european architecture and general look, it impressed at first glance.

Even though there was an economic crash in 2002 Buenos Aires has a lot of poor and a lot of wealth but a sheek list of classy restaurants, boutiques and one of the best nightlife scenes in all of south America this place is sophisticated. Argentinians are very noticably different looking, they look more italian than south american.

I met great people at my hostel and ending up partying hard for a couple days in between my week and a half stay. The clubs are just like London clubs, big nights, big atmosphere! I also met up with friends Jenny and Alex who have moved from the UK.. it was the first faces from home i had seen in 6 months which was great and quite a strange feeling, cant believ you can order takaway from the poshest of restaurants.. brilliant, that ice cream was goooooooooood!

Buenos Aires is a massive city I discovered, visiting other areas needed local buses etc and all varied with interest. I went to vist the famous La Boca area. This was built by Italian immigrants from Genoa. The locals years ago painted their buildings bright colours to add life to the area and a vibrant ambience of art and dance.

I also went to visit Recoleta in one of the citys plushest areas. Here I visted the famous cemetery where Evita is buried. Now when I say cemetery you have to see this place. Each grave is like a small intricate building !. these things are ornate and massive with marble facades and statues !. Walking through the cemetry is like walking through a street of gothic wonderful buildings truley weird!

Buenos Aires feels alive arty fresh and full of variety. I didnt stay too long though as i decided to fit in a trip to Patagonia to walk on the massice ice glaciers, ...in the next blog entry
