We'll the day started early again with Lau getting up early this time to witness the monks ceremony. She really enjoyed it, but the early start was a killer.

As we had had an early start we wanted to take advantage of it.  So we had our ablutions, packed our bags and headed out the door just before 08h00.  The journey we were about to make to Tokyo looked, on paper at least, pretty straight forward.  Some 8hrs and seven different trains later we arrived in our hotel in Tokyo.

The first thing to say about Tokyo is that it is mad!  There are SO many people.  We have visited some big cities, even during rush hour, but there seems to be so many people and so little space!

We got up to our room and noted that the hotel had it's own laundry room, so I headed down to get some clothes washed whilst Lau stayed with Em' who had an afternoon nap.

We headed out at about 18h00 and took the train from Shinjuku to Shibuya so as we could take in the famous Shibuya crossing.  Both Lau and I have only ever seen so many people in one spot moving at the same time and that was at the end of the New Year Celebrations in Sydney.  So image that many people crossing the road all at once every 5 mins or so.

Overall from what we have seen so far, Tokyo is an assault on the senses and really does feel like you are right in the middle of Bladerunner.....

Whilst 'in town' we grabbed a bite to eat and started on some of the shopping we expect to do before we head home.

Tomorrow we plan to have an easy day to recharge but we should be getting up to the Sony building.  One third shop, one third museum, one third shrine to the brand.

More tomorrow......
