Okay, so I knew the day was going to start off wet. I had seen the forecast and was well aware that the thunderstorm overnight was the start of a front that would bring rain throughout the morning. What I, nor the weatherman knew was that he had been fed some bum information, because the rain was in fact only going to break for about two hours around lunchtime and then start up again without relent until Saturday morning around 8am!

We did have a good look around town and a brief wander around the lake during those two humid hours and we again got excited about the prospect of the next two day's hiking. Plans were made to visit a pub or two after the big one up to the summit of Mount Kosciusko the following day and firm commitments to attend the Jindabyne festival being set up for Saturday night, complete with a rodeo, carnival rides and a concert were sworn to.

And then the rain came.

The next morning we woke to even angrier skies and encompassing cloud that reached it’s gray hands down to the shores of the lake. Even though we knew the answer already, we headed up to the visitor’s center just to confirm that we were going to have to head on to Canberra. There would be no hiking until possibly Monday, but most likely Tuesday, and we were already going crazy being surrounded by all this wilderness and not being able to enjoy it.

So Canberra, here we come!
