Kanha NP was the setting for Kipling's 'Jungle Book' and it is extrememly dense jungle in parts. Kahna is 1,940sqkm and has 131 Tigers. The park is beautiful and in the morning is covered by a layer of mist which made great photos with the sun shining through! Kanha also uses elephants to track the Tigers and if the elephants find the Tigers you can go on elephant back to see them. The Tigers are totally used to the elephants and so you can get really close. This is how we saw our 4th Tiger - I was shaking so much I couldn't get my camera to work! We had 5 game drives in Kanha and saw 7 Tigers (2 from elephant back). Our best sighting was seeing two male Tiger cubs (almost fully grown) play fighting in the grass and practising their hunting skills. We were really lucky seeing that many Tigers but we also saw a Sloth Bear, Wild Dogs on a hunt. Gaul and a Jungle Cat all of which are really rare.
