Well, Puno. Not quite as pretty as Cusco, but pleasant nonetheless. An uneventful bus-journey, not even disrupted by children throwing things at us. Entertained by a Spanish version of Jennifer Rush's "The Power Of Love" (which was definitely an 80s song. And I will fight anyone who says otherwise), and then various Spanish powerballads of the sort that were popular in the 80s (or at least English ones were, in England) - one involving a smartly dressed Robert Palmer-alike, singing "Siempre, Siempre - Tu!", with a woman in a cocktail dress huskily providing "Siempre, Siempre" backing vocals. I lost interest after that....
Puno seems to lack hostels, but I have a hotel room with hot water and cable tv for only 30 soles a night. Which seems reasonable. Tomorrow, a trip on Lake Titicata (the world's highest navigable lake, fact fans!), and Friday a trip to the ruins Sillustani. And then a bus to Arequipa on Saturday morning. Other than that, I have been feeling ill in Cusco. And getting annoyed when people in my dorm get back, noisily, at round 4am. Youths. Of some form or other. No longer a problem, for the next three nights, as I can recline in luxury, watching cable tv. Or go out, as I'm feeling less shabby.
Oh. Machu Picchu photos. I can post them, now. And do you like my welcome photo? I feel it best symbolises this blog...

Carancas
Are you anywhere near Carancas? Apparently it's in the Puna region. If so, beware the zombies (According to the Guardian - the meteor may have turned the population into flesh eating living dead).

Is 10 soles about £1.50 ? Living in luxury!!
