Where I stayed
We never really got to grips with Bangkok. The best way to see a city is to walk around it. Bangkok was too big and sprawling for that and tuc tuc drivers when asked to take us somewhere, frustratingly just took us to the nearest tourist shop or tailors for free fuel coupons. We spent the majority of our time near the back-packer ghetto of Kho San road (we actually stayed at next door Rambuttri street). We did see the grand palace though, and had some great curries and thai food at hawker stalls. We also went to a really nice rooftop bar on Kho San road (called the Roof). Live bands, sprinklers spraying dried ice and cold beer, can't beat it.
