The first hostel we stay at resembles the Tuol Sleung prison in Phnoom Penh so we move to a really nice place called Rosy's. An additional benefit is the great food you get at Rosy’s, the egg and chips is especially delicious. The big draw of Siem Reap is the temples of Angkor Wat. We only do a day’s visit to the impressive wats, which I think is enough for non-temple lovers. Angkor Wat is beautiful as the sun rises. My personal favourite is the Bayon temple in Angkor Thom. It reminds me of the apes (king of the swingers) residence in Jungle book. We also see the temple that Tomb Raider was filmed. It’s been kept as it was discovered with trees growing out of ruin buildings – it does give you a sense of the excitement and adventure that must have been felt when re-discovering this site. I try my first out-there exotic food at the temples, barbequed frog. Predictably – it tasted like chicken.
