Our first land border crossing and it's into Laos. All of a sudden everything seems to slow down. People are so chilled here. We spend a day just walking about Luang Prabang - it's such a pretty place. We chill at Utopia bar overlooking the Nam Khan river - a very cool place.

The following day we do Mahout (elephant) training. We sit on the elephant's neck and go for a ride through a jungle trail, then take them for a wash in the Mekong river. Or should I say they take us for a wash in the Mekong river. Sarah's elephant especially enjoyed soaking her - being egged on by the mahout trainers.

We also see Kuangsi waterfall - a beautiful big waterfall followed by smaller cascading ones wher you can take a dip in the turquoise water. A long walk up Mount Phusi in the centre of Luang Prabang is rewarded with some great panoramic views of the city. Both me and Sarah are surprised at how green the city is. It seems more like a forest with buildings dotted about rather than a city.
